Customize the Yoast SEO readability analysis feature

The readability analysis in Yoast SEO focuses on the quality of your text, and it is available in multiple languages. High-quality content is an important ranking factor. That is why this feature is automatically enabled, and we definitely recommend using it. However, if for some reason you need to disable it, you can do that fully site-wide or per user. In this post, we guide you through the steps you need to take to disable or enable the readability feature.

How to fully disable or enable the readability analysis

Follow the steps below to fully disable the readability analysis.

  1. In your WordPress Dashboard, go to Yoast SEO


  2. Go to Settings


  3. Under General, go to Site features

  4. Toggle the Readability analysis switch to off

    If you see a purple checkmark, the feature is enabled. If you see a gray crossmark, the feature is disabled.


  5. Click Save changes


How to disable the content readability analysis for individual users

  1. In your WordPress Dashboard, go to Users

  2. Go to Profile or All Users
    Click on Profile to disable the Readability analysis for yourself or click All Users and then Edit to disable it for another user.

  3. Tick the Disable Readability analysis checkbox
    Scroll down to the Yoast SEO settings. To disable the feature, check the box next to Disable SEO analysis.

  4. Click Update Profile

How to completely disable Yoast SEO from working on a specific post or page

You can use this code here to remove the Yoast code from the front and backend of a specific post or page. We recommend taking a backup of the site, prior to making any changes to it. If you are not sure how to do that, your host provider can help.
