Meet Md Noruzzaman, a valued member of the WordPress community! Muhibul Haque nominated him for the Yoast Care Fund for his commitment and valuable contributions. Let’s learn more about this WordPress enthusiast.

He has been contributing as a WordPress core contributor since version 6.6 and continues to actively support the project. He has volunteered at WordCamps, served as a Campus Connect volunteer, and is currently planning to host a Campus Connect event in Bogura. Beyond that, he has contributed to the WordPress Training Team, WP Playground, and several other contributor channels. He is actively working as a mentor in both WPCredits and the WordPress Training Team, helping onboard and guide new contributors. Currently, he is also contributing to the Core Test Team, Gutenberg, Core Trac, and serving as a WordPress Meetup Organizer. His dedication to community growth, education, and sustainability makes him a deserving nominee for the Yoast Care Fund.”

Let’s get to know Md Noruzzaman

That’s quite an introduction, Muhibul! We would love to get to know Md Noruzzaman even better. That’s why we asked him questions about his work and his passion for WordPress.

Hi, Md Noruzzaman! What do you do in the WordPress space?

 I am a Senior WordPress Developer and Team Lead at Boomdevs. I am also a WordPress Core Contributor and have contributed to five major releases: WordPress 6.6, 6.7, 6.8, 6.9, and 7.0. For WordPress 7.0, I was recognized as a Noteworthy Contributor.

In my free time, especially on weekends, I enjoy building plugins and contributing to WordPress. Over the years, I have independently developed many plugins and worked on several at my company. These include multiple Gutenberg-based plugins for which I served as lead developer.

One of my proudest contributions was serving on the Twenty Twenty-Five default block theme team. Beyond development, I have contributed to many different WordPress teams. Currently, my main focus is on Core, including both WordPress Core through wordpress-develop and the Gutenberg project.

I also contribute regularly to the Training team and help organize local WordPress events. I’m the Lead Organizer for WPCampus Connect Bogura 2026.

How did you first discover WordPress, and why did you start contributing?

I first heard of “WordPress” in 2013, but my real journey began in 2018, when I decided to pursue a career as a WordPress developer.

During my early years, I mostly worked on client projects and built websites using existing themes and plugins. I also released a few of my own projects on WordPress.org. However, I have always wondered how I could contribute directly to WordPress rather than just using it.

In 2022, I joined the WordPress Slack community, and that changed everything for me. I discovered many ways to contribute, even without immediately writing code for WordPress Core. I started by contributing Bengali translations and gradually became involved in other areas of the project.

What excites you most about WordPress?

Being recognized as a Noteworthy Contributor for WordPress 7.0 was one of the most exciting moments of my journey. It was the first time I received this recognition, and it felt incredibly rewarding.

Being part of the Twenty Twenty-Five default theme release was another major confidence boost. It made me feel genuinely connected to the future of the WordPress project.

Beyond the code, I love that WordPress is a true community filled with real people who care deeply about the platform and its future.

What advice would you give to someone just starting with WordPress?

Start small, and do not wait until you feel completely ready.

I began contributing through Bengali translations in 2022, long before I worked on WordPress Core code. That first step was enough to introduce me to the community and open the door to more opportunities.

Join the WordPress Slack community, choose a team that interests you, such as Core, Polyglots, Training, or any other team, and start participating. Keep showing up, learning, and helping wherever you can.

Build things in your free time, even if they are only small plugins or personal experiments. Practical projects are often where you learn the most.

Consistency matters far more than how much experience you have on your first day.
