Recipient:
Faisal Ahammad

Nominated by:
Akramul Hasan
Meet Faisal Ahammad, a valued member of the WordPress Community Team! Akramul Hasan nominated him for the Yoast Care fund because of his commitment and valuable contributions to the community. Let’s learn more about this passionate WordPress enthusiast.
Nominator Akramul Hasan: “Faisal’s journey began in 2012 with WordPress despite not having a personal computer. Since then, he has contributed to various teams, became admin of the WordPressian Facebook group, led the Hosting table at WordCamp Malaysia 2023 and the Polyglots table for WordCamp Sylhet 2024 and WordCamp Asia 2025, volunteered at WordCamp Malaysia 2024 and WordCamp Asia 2025 as Hall Lead and Time Keeper, and spoken at local meetups. Now, one might question why he should receive funding. I believe he is one of the most active contributors to the WordPress community. He has inspired and taught many people to contribute to WordPress. I believe he is the best candidate for this funding, which will help him contribute even more in the future and assist others in contributing to the WordPress community.”
Let’s get to know Faisal Ahammad
Those are some lovely words by Akramul. Let’s get to know Faisal a bit better and ask him some questions about his work and passion for WordPress:
Hi, Faisal! What do you do in the WordPress space?
I’m a Customer Success Agent at Saturday Drive Inc. (AKA Ninja Forms), where I support our customers. I also contribute to WordPress Core, engage in the WordPress Forum, and participate regularly in the Photos and Polyglots teams. Additionally, I write blog posts on my personal website and publish WordPress-related video tutorials on my YouTube channel to help people better understand WordPress.
I am actively involved with both the local and international WordPress communities. I am one of the admins of the WordPressians Facebook group, where people post inquiries about WordPress, job opportunities, and various other topics. I have always enjoyed attending WordCamps, and to date, I have attended eight WordCamps, including two flagship events.
How did you first discover WordPress, and why did you start contributing?
I heard about WordPress from an online blogging platform at the end of 2012 or early 2013. I downloaded it and tried manually installing it on my local machine using XAMPP. I discovered that it was very easy to use for building websites, and today, over 40% of websites are powered by WordPress.
After freelancing for a few years, I realized I was only taking from WordPress and not giving back. So, I searched for ways to contribute. I joined local meetups and learned how to contribute to the Polyglots team easily. That was the starting point, and now I love contributing as part of my daily routine and passion.
What’s one WordPress-related goal you have for this year?
I’d like to contribute more to WordPress Core and help others do the same. I have a YouTube playlist titled “WordPress Contribution,” which has been watched 1,463 times, and many people have started their first contributions from there. I hope to create a couple more videos this year so new contributors can find their way to make additional contributions and help ensure the success of WordPress.
Who is your WordPress hero?
I have a couple of heroes who inspired me to contribute to WordPress. When I started watching the Core channel in WordPress Slack, I found Olga Gleckler and Sergey Biryukov very helpful and active. Specifically, Sergey approved my first PR for WordPress Core v6.3, which marked my first core contribution. I was lucky to meet them in person at the last WordCamp Asia 2025.
Additionally, my boss, James Laws, and my manager, Mia Cantrell, have always inspired and motivated me to contribute to the WordPress ecosystem. Their encouragement and sponsorship of multiple WordCamps, such as WordCamp Malaysia 2024, WordCamp Sylhet 2024, and WordCamp Asia 2025, have been crucial to my ongoing contributions to WordPress. Because of this support, I had the opportunity to become a volunteer at WordCamp Malaysia 2024, serve as the Polyglots table lead at WordCamp Sylhet 2024, and finally take on the roles of Polyglots table lead and Hall Lead/Time Keeper (volunteer) at WordCamp Asia 2025.
Ahmed Kabir Chaion is also a noteworthy contributor who consistently supports and encourages me to be more engaged in my local WordPress community and make more meaningful contributions. His guidance on participating in WordPress Meetups and WordCamps has enabled me to connect more actively with the community.
Where can people connect with you—whether online, at WordCamps, or other meetups?
I’m always available on the WordPress Slack channel as @faisalahammad. Besides that, you can find me on LinkedIn and X. I also attend WordPress local meetups in Dhaka city, local WordCamps in Bangladesh, and some international WordCamps. We may meet in person at these local events or international WordCamps.
Thank you for this interview, Faisal, and all your contributions to the WordPress community! Do you know someone like Faisal Ahammad who also deserves to be in the spotlight? Go to our Yoast Care page and nominate them right away.
