Aditya Kane
Meet Dan Tabifranca, a valued member of the WordPress Polyglots Team! Aditya Kane nominated him for the Yoast Care fund because of his commitment and valuable contributions. Let’s learn more about this WordPress enthusiast.
Nominator Aditya Kane: “Dan has been fantastic as an organizer at WordCamp Asia 2025 in Manila, and a stellar organizer locally in the Philippines, actively organizing and speaking at several meetups and workshops. I often see events from the Philippines in my feed where Dan is involved. A Yoast Care recognition would be a great boost for someone who is working hard to build the community locally.”
Let’s get to know Dan Tabifranca
Those are some lovely words by Aditya. Let’s get to know Dan a bit better and ask him some questions about his work and passion for WordPress:
Dan, how did you first discover WordPress, and why did you start contributing?
I knew about WordPress way back in 2010, but I didn’t actually start working with it until my first job in the field in 2019. That role at Blue Liquid Designs was my real introduction. After a while, it just hit me that my entire career was being built on this amazing platform. I felt like I really owed it to the project to help out. So I decided to contribute however I could. Now, I’m so deep in the ecosystem that giving back to the community just feels like a natural part of my week.
Who is your WordPress hero?
That’s an easy one: Jake Jackson, my boss at my first WordPress job. I learned so much of what I know about WordPress from him. He also introduced me to the community side of things. He pushed me to go to local WordCamps and supported me when I went to WordCamp Asia 2024, which was a huge eye-opener for me. I’ve been so much more active in the community since then, and it’s all thanks to him for giving me that initial nudge and support.
What’s your favorite WordPress memory or something you’re most proud of?
Helping lead one of the organizing teams for WordCamp Asia 2025 is definitely my favorite memory. It was an amazing experience. I got to work with so many different people from all over the world and was part of a truly fantastic team. We had to figure out how to communicate across cultures and manage a million different things to pull off a great event. Just being a part of that whole process was incredible and something I’ll honestly never forget.
What’s one WordPress project you wish you had more time for?
I really wish I had more time to work on my own personal website. I miss writing, and I’d love to get back to it. I keep thinking about how great it would be to have my site active again with new content all the time, but finding the spare hours is tough. Time is such a luxury these days. Maybe one of these days I’ll finally get around to it. 😄
Where can people connect with you? Online, at WordCamps, or other meetups?
Yes, feel free to connect with me! You can find all my links on my Gravatar profile. I’m always at WordCamps, so please come say hi if you see me. And if you’re ever in the Philippines, you can usually find me at our local WordPress Meetups, especially the ones in Manila. Feel free to send me a message anytime. I’d love to chat.
Thank you for this interview, Dan, and for all your contributions to the WordPress community! Do you know someone like Dan Tabifranca who also deserves to be in the spotlight? Go to our Yoast Care page and nominate them right away.
